    PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College volleyball team (10-12) defeated Bryant University (5-13), 3-0, on Tuesday, October 6 in the Friars' home finale in Mullaney Gymnasium. Senior Abby Majewski (Sunderland, Mass.) was honored in a pre-match ceremony for her four year service to the team. The 5-9 outside hitter posted seven kills against the Bulldogs to help fuel the Friar victory.

    Providence won the match in straight sets, 25-11, 25-22 and 25-18. Sophomore Lauren Fletcher (Syracuse, N.Y.) was a force at the net, pacing the Friars with 10 kills and hitting at a blistering .529 clip. Fletcher also posted a team-high two solo blocks and seven block assists. Sophomore setter Carly Morrison (Larkspur, Calif.) notched 30 assists and set a career-high with five service aces for the Friars, while freshman libero Cassie Muzzonigro (Gibsonia, Pa.) paced the team defensively with 12 digs.

    The Friars enjoyed a 36-to-33 advantage in kills for the match and notched eight service aces to Bryant's two. PC also held a commanding lead in total blocks, 13-to-3. Maria Scocca led the Bulldogs with 13 kills and Robyn Gardner recorded a match-high 16 digs.

    The Friars now hit the road for a four-game trip to close out the 2009 season. The trip begins with a 7:00 p.m. contest against Central Connecticut State on Wednesday, October 14 in New Britain, Conn.
