UConn Wears Out Friars, 3-2 in Volleyball

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Providence College volleyball squad lost to the University of Connecticut this afternoon, 3-2 in Alumni Hall. The Friars fought back after losing the first two games and tied the score at two games all. In the fifth game, the Huskies took a commanding lead and won 15-8.

Scores of the five games were 14-16, 10-15,16-14, 15-10 and 8-15.

Sophomore Sarah Katinger (Stratford, CT) led the Friars tallying 24 kills while sophomore Annie Cella (Burr Ridge, IL) tallied 23 kills and a team best 19 digs. Friar setter Colleen Lee (Tonawanda, NY) tallied 88 assists.

The Huskies were led by Chanice Harris with 21 kills while Stephanie Shindel recorded 18 kills on 52 attempts and a game high 29 digs.

Providence falls to 5-8 and 0-1 in the BIG EAST while UConn improves to 10-3 and 1-0 in conference play.
