Final Stats

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College volleyball team was defeated in a BIG EAST Conference volleyball match by the University of West Virginia, 3-0, in PC's Peterson Recreation Center in Providence, R.I.

The Friars (1-9 overall/0-2 BIG EAST) lost three tightly contests games to lose the match. Senior outside hitter Annie Cella (Burr Ridge, Ill.) led all players with 20 kills and added five digs. Her classmate, and fellow outside hitter, Sarah Katinger (Stratford, Conn.) chipped in with 15 kills, a match-high 18 digs and two aces in the loss. Freshman Ayana Cadres (Los Angeles, Calif.) added 10 kills, one ace, and a block for the Friars.

The Mountaineers (4-6 overall/ 1-0 BIG EAST) has two players reach double-figure kills as Jill Ruskowski (12 kills, four digs) and Krista Smith (10 kills, four digs) paced West Virginia to the victory.

The Friars return to action on Wednesday, September 26 when they travel to Central Connecticut St. for a non-conference match.
