Cambridge, Mass. -- The Providence College Volleyball team defeated Hartford, 3-0 (15-11, 15-2, 15-5) and Holy Cross, 3-0 (15-1, 15-6, 15-6) in the second round of the Harvard Invitational on Saturday, September 23.

Against Hartford, junior Sarah Katinger (Stratford, Conn.) led PC with 16 kills and nine digs, while senior Heidi Filippi (Wooster, Ohio) had 11 kills and 11 digs. Sophomore Susan Fanning (E. Amherst, N.Y.) had 42 assists for PC.

Versus Holy Cross, junior Annie Cella (Burr Ridge, Ill.) recorded 14 kills and 11 digs for the Friars. Fanning had 32 assists against the Crusaders.

Providence is now 11-5 overall and returns to action on Saturday, September 30, when they host the University of Pittsburgh in their 2000 BIG EAST season opener. Game time is slated for 2:00 p.m. in Mullaney Gymnasium at Alumni Hall.
