Volleyball Drops Conference Opener To New Hampshire

    DURHAM, N.H. --The Providence College volleyball team (1-17, 0-1) was swept by the University of New Hampshire Wildcats (8-8, 1-0) 25-23, 25-10 and 25-19 on Saturday, September 22 in Durham, N.H.in their America East conference opener.

    Sophomore Anna Russian (Round Rock, Texas) led the team with 11 kills and a .458 hitting percentage, while freshman Jordan Wiesler (Coconut Creek, Fla.) led the Friars with 18 assists. Senior Cassie Muzzonigro (Gibsonia, Pa.) had a game-high 19 digs.

    The Friars will continue conference play on Friday, September 28 when they travel to Binghamton, N.Y. to play Binghamton University at 7:00 p.m. The team will then go down Baltimore, Md. to face UMBC at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 30.

    Providence will play its first match at home this season on Sunday, October 7 versus America East foe Stony Brook. This match will mark the first athletic event played in the renovated Mullaney Gymnasium in Alumni Hall.
