LORETTO, Pa. - The Providence volleyball team was defeated by Robert Morris, 3-0 (18-30, 14-30, 19-30) in the Friars' opening game at the St. Francis (Pa.) Invitational at DeGol Arena in Loretto, Pa. Providence rebounded to capture their second match of the day, defeating St. Francis (N.Y.), 3-0 (30-28, 30-27, 30-28).

In the Robert Morris match, Freshman Katie Fleming (Cary, N.C.) led the Friar offense with nine kills on 36 attacks with 12 digs. Senior Sandy Fanning (E. Amherst, N.Y.) notched a match-high 16 digs.

Against St. Francis, sophomore Ayana Cadres (Los Angeles, Calif.) led the Friar charge with 16 kills on 37 attacks. Fleming had 14 kills and a match-high 14 digs.

Providence returns to the court on Saturday to play host St. Francis (Pa.) at Noon and Iona at 3:00 p.m.
