Friars Finish Third at Marquette Invitational

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Friars finished third at the Marquette Invitational held in Milwaukee, Wisconsin over the weekend. The Friars lost a heartbreaker to eventual champ Marquette, 3-2 with scores of 9-15, 15-13, 15-6, 11-15, 17-19 then defeated Mississippi State, 3-0 by scores of 15-7, 15-2, and 15-10. In the second place game, the Friars lost to Bowling Green, 3-1 (12-15, 15-3, 8-15, 14-16).

Sophomore Sarah Katinger recorded a weekend high of 22 kills against host Marquette while also tallying 17 kills against Mississippi State and Bowling Green.

Sophomore Annie Cella and senior Colleen Lee earned All-Tournament honors. Cella tallied 46 kills during the weekend on 134 attempts which included a 19 hit performance against Bowling Green. Lee tallied 146 assists on the weekend while she collected 55 digs.
