Volleyball Drops Match to Central Connecticut, 3-1

    HANOVER, N.H. - The Providence College volleyball team dropped its third match of the Dartmouth Invitational to Central Connecticut, three sets to one, on Friday, Sept. 14 in Hanover, N.H. Junior Mackenzie Ziegler (Portage, Wis.) led Providence's attack with 13 kills in the match.

    The Friars opened up the first set against the Blue Devils with a 28-26 victory. The set reached a tie score 16 times and was witness to six lead changes.

    Central Connecticut went on to take the next three sets to notch the victory (25-14, 25-17, 25-18). The Blue Devils were led by Veronika Ban who finished the match with 14 kills.

    Joining Ziegler in double digit kills for the Friars were freshman Kayla Fitzgerald (Redlands, Calif.) and junior Colleen McCollom (Indian Head Park, Ill.) with 12 and 11, respectively .

    Sophomore setter Jordan Wiesler (Coconut Creek, Fla.) finished the match with 41 assists.

    Defensively for the Friars, freshman Michelle Cruz (Midland Park, N.J.) posted a team-best 27 digs.
