The Providence College volleyball team was defeated by Kent State, 3-1, on Saturday, September 6 in the team’s second match of the Maine Tournament. The Golden Flashes won the match with game scores of 23-25, 25-18, 25-17 and 25-16. The setback drops PC to 3-4, while Kent State moves to 4-1.

The Friars contributed a strong defensive effort against the Golden Flashes. Senior Kelly Krahenbuhl (Larkspur, Colo.) led the team with 12 digs and added two service aces, while senior Aida Cadres (Los Angeles, Calif.) contributed 10 digs. Pacing the Friar attack, senior Jeanette Toney (Brooklyn, N.Y.) registered eight kills and added two blocks.Co-captain Sara Sheehan (West Chester, Pa.) set up the attack with 27 assists.

Providence is back in action at 4:00 p.m. today when the team squares off against Quinnipiac (1-5) in the Friars’ final match of the Maine Tournament.
