Providence, R.I. -

The Providence College volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 victory over Holy Cross in the team's home opener on Wednesday, September 3 in Mullaney Gymnasium. The Friars won the match with game scores of 25-18, 25-15 and 26-24. PC now moves to 3-2 on the season, while the Crusaders fall to 0-1.

Senior Elizabeth Flynn (Bellerose, N.Y.) led the Friars with 16 kills and continues to post impressive attack percentage numbers, hitting at a .714 mark for the match. For the season, Flynn is hitting at a .538 clip. Defensively, senior Kelly Krahenbuhl (Larkspur, Colo.) paced the Friars with nine digs. Co-captain Sarah Sheehan (West Chester, Pa.) contributed 26 assists, five service aces and eight digs.

Providence is back on the road this weekend, with three matches scheduled in the Maine Tournament. The Friars will square off with host Maine at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 5 and face Kent State (10:00 a.m.) and Quinnipiac (4:00 p.m.) on Saturday, September 6.
