    Women's Volleyball To Join BIG EAST Conference

    Friars will begin competition as BIG EAST members in the fall of 2014.

    One of the top players in Providence volleyball history, Sarah Katinger begins her first season as an assistant coach at Providence. Katinger joins the coaching ranks after graduating with a degree in History from PC in May of 2002. During her four stellar seasons at Providence, Katinger set three PC career records and three single-season marks. She is the Friars' all-time leader in kills (1,729), digs (1,599) and total attacks (4, 761). In addition, Katinger holds the College?s all-time single season record with 504 kills, which was set during her sophomore (1999) year. In 2000, Katinger posted 502 kills, two kills shy of tying her own record. Her 464 digs and 1,370 total attacks also are single season records. Katinger was a two-time All-BIG EAST performer and she was named to the All-Rookie Team during her freshman season. She also earned BIG EAST All-Academic honors.
