PROVIDENCE, R.I. -
On July 26, 2012 the BIG EAST Conference announced that 24 teams earned the 2011-12 Team Academic Excellence Awards. The Providence College women's indoor and outdoor track and field teams were two of the 24 teams named.
To earn the Academic Excellence Award, a team must have the highest collective grade-point average in each conference sport. The winners were chosen based on the 2011-12 grade-point average of each student-athlete who appeared on the institution's roster, as of the last competition of the championship segment, in each conference-sponsored sport.
DePaul finished with a conference-best five teams recognized, while 12 BIG EAST schools had at least one team honored.
