PROVIDENCE, R.I. - It was announced today that Providence College junior Gladys Ganiel (Harrington, Maine) earned 1998 Third-Team GTE Academic All-America Spring At-Large honors.
Ganiel, a political science major, has earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.97 in her first three years at Providence. It marks the third time Ganiel has earned GTE District 1 At-Large national honors. Over the past two years, she also has been named to the GTE District 1 At-Large Team four times.
This spring Ganiel excelled on the track, capturing the 10,000
meter titles at the New England Championship and the ECAC
Championship. She also competed at the NCAA Championship,
finishing 13th in the 10,000 meters.
