Men's and Women's Track Competes On Saturday At NCAA East Preliminary

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Providence College men's and women's track teams competed at the NCAA Outdoor Track East Preliminary Championship in Jacksonville, Fla., on Saturday, May 31.

The women's team was led by sophomore Sarah Mary Collins (Basel, Switzerland) and senior Laura Nagel (Napier, New Zealand) as both ran the 5,000 meters and qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track Championship on June 11-14 in Eugene, Oregon. Collins finished ninth (16:05.86) and Nagel placed 10th (16:08.39). Freshman Catarina Rocha (Peabody, Mass.) also ran the 5,000 meters and finished 40th (17:03.84).

On the men's side graduate student Julian Saad (Trumbull, Conn.) ran the 5,000 meters and finished 25th (14:34.19).
