    FAIRFAX, VA. - The Providence College men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed on the second and final day of competition at the 2003 NCAA East Regional on Saturday, May 31 in Fairfax, Va. on the campus of George Mason University.

    On the women's side, senior Roisin McGettigan (Wicklow, Ireland) captured the NCAA East Regional Individual Title in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a first-place finish in a time of 10:03.55. McGettigan automatically advances to the 2003 NCAA Championships on June 11-14 in Sacramento, Calif.

    Joining McGettigan at the NCAA Championships will be sophomore Mary Cullen (Sligo, Ireland) who placed fourth in the 5,000 meter run with a personal best time of 15:56.19 on Friday, May 30. Senior Brooke Freeburg (Waterford, Pa.) will await an at-large invitation in the women's javelin throw. Freeburg finished sixth (47.60 meters) in the javelin at the East Regionals on Friday afternoon. The NCAA Office will announce the at-large qualifiers on Tuesday, June 2.
