The Providence College men's and women's outdoor track teams competed at the UConn Invitational on Saturday April 21. The women's squad was led by freshman Krystal Douglas (Harpswell, Maine) who won the 5000 meters, while the men's team was led by sophomore Richard Yeates (Dublin, Ireland) who placed second in the 1500 meters.

Douglas captured the 5000 meters in a time of 17:24.87. Junior Michelle Childs (Cameron, Ont.) placed third in the 5000 meters. Senior Meghan Owen (Danielson, Conn.) won the 1500 meters in a time of 4:32.62. Freshman Breffini Twohig (Dublin, Ireland) placed third in the 1500 meter run at 4:38.82.

Yeates finished second in the 1500 meters at a time of 3:55.79. Sophomore Charles Dewey (Worcester, Mass.) placed second in the 400 meters with a time of 48.66. Freshman Tom Webb (Barrington, R.I.) placed second in the 3000 meter steeplechase in a time of 9:28.29.

The men's outdoor track team finished in fifth place out of seven teams with 37 points. The women's squad placed sixth out of eight with 41 points. Both teams will return to action on Thursday, April 26 at the Penn Relays.
