Collins captured the second-fastest time posted by a Providence runner at the Stanford Invitational.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Junior Benjamin Connor (Derby, England) and sophomore Sarah Mary Collins (Basel, Switzerland) of the Providence College men's and women's track teams each earned BIG EAST Track Athlete of the Week honors. It was announced today (April 8) by the league.
Both Connor and Collins earned the weekly honor for their performances at the Stanford Invitational on April 4 in Palo Alto, Calif. It marks the first career weekly league recognition for both athletes during the outdoor track season.
The Friars saw Collins post the second-best time by a Providence runner in the women's 5000 meter run (Record held by Kim Smith '05 - 15:09.72). Collins finished the race in a personal-best and ECAC qualifying time of 15:31.03.
In the men's 10,000 meter run, Connor finished sixth with an IC4A Championship qualifying time of 29:18.62.
The Friars will return to action on Saturday, April 12 as the program will be hosting its first collegiate meet on the Ray Treacy Track. The meet, which will feature Providence's top athletes, will begin at 11:00 a.m. Attendance is free and open to the public.
