PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College Men's Track & Field team flies out to Oakland, California today as they prepare for the Stanford Invitational on Friday, April 4th and Saturday, April 5th. The Women's Track & Field team will compete in the UConn Invitational in Storrs, Connecticut on Saturday, April 5th.

Seven male athletes will make the trip to Palo Alto, California along with Head Coach Stephen Walsh to compete in the Stanford Invitational on the campus of Stanford Unviersity. Sophomore Tom Webb (Barrington, R.I) will kick things off for the Friars on Friday morning at 9:06 a.m. in the 5000m (section #5). At 11:28 a.m., junior Nick Berluti (Westwood, Mass.), senior James Lourenco (West Warwick, R.I.), and junior Charles Dewey (Worcester, Mass.) will all run in the 800m. Senior Ahmed Haji (West Hartford, Conn.) will run in the 5000m (section #1) at 6:49 p.m. to conclude Friday's events for the Friars.

On Saturday, senior Chris McDermott (West Haven, Conn.) will run in the 1500m at 12:56 p.m. and junior Richard Yates (Dublin, Ireland) will run in the 5000m (section #3) at 7:44 p.m.

At UConn, the women will get things started at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 5th when freshman Katherine Schock (Norwood, Mass.) competes in the 3000m Steeplechase. At 11:20 a.m., sophomore Breffini Twohig (Dublin, Ireland), sophomore Krystal Douglas (Harpswell, Maine), senior Mary Nelle Trefz (Iowa City, Iowa), senior Michelle Childs (Cameron, Ontario) will all run in the 1500m. Sophomore Caitlin Lawrence (Franklin, Mass.) and freshman Caley Brown will take part in the High Jump at 11:30 a.m.

 

 

The afternoon will kick off with freshman Julie Wolf (Holden, Mass.) running in the 400m at 12:05 p.m. At 12:20 p.m., freshman Toni Rauseo (Kensington, Conn.) and freshman Nora Fazioli (Troy, N.Y.) will run in the 100m. Providence will have six runners in the 800m at 12:35 p.m. as Schock, junior Katie Elliot (Penfield, N.Y.), freshman Christina Conley (Andover, Mass.), sophomore Samantha Stadt (Pearl River, N.Y.), sophomore Amie Schumacher (Wolcott, Conn.), and freshman Lauren Ballback all compete.

At 1:00 p.m., the 200m will start and include Wolf, Lawrence, Rauseo, and Fazioli. At 1:20 p.m., freshman Emma Perron (West Hartford, Conn.), junior Sarah Morgan (Waikato, New Zealand), and junior Katie DiCamillo (Garden City, N.Y.) will all run in the 5000m. The Friars will conclude the meet with the 4x400m relay at 1:45 p.m. Runners are yet to be determined for that race.
