Women's Track Ranked 10th In Trackwire 25 Poll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College women's indoor track & field team (23 points) is ranked 10th in the Trackwire 25 poll, which was released on February 17. The Poll is based on projected scores for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship.

The Friars, who competed at the St. Valentine Invitational on February 13-14 in Boston, Mass., are led by juniors Kim Smith (Auckland, New Zealand) and Mary Cullen (Sligo, Ireland). Smith has automatically qualified for the NCAA's in the mile, the 3,000 meters and the 5,000 meters. In addition, she has set Providence College records in the mile (4:30.61 on Feb. 10) and the 5,000 meters (15:18.54 on Jan. 31). She also holds the world record in the 3,000 meters (9:04.90) this season. Cullen, a cross country and track All-American has automatically qualified for the NCAA's in the mile and the 3,000 meters.

Providence will compete at the BIG EAST Championship on February 21-22 in Syracuse, N.Y.
