The Providence College men’s and women’s indoor track teams are set to compete at the Boston University Terrier Invitational in Boston, Mass. on Friday, Jan. 25 and Saturday, Jan. 26.
The women’s team will compete on Friday, Jan. 25. Juniors Laura Nagel (Napier, New Zealand) and Erin Murphy (Easton, Mass.) will be racing for the first time this season. Nagel will be competing in the 5,000-meters. She has never competed in this event as a Friar, but participated in the 1 Mile at the Terrier Invitational last year. Nagel finished fifth with a time of 4:46.53. Murphy will be competing in the 3,000-meters. The last time Murphy competed in this event was the Boston University Valentine Invitational in 2012. She finished 43rd with a time of 10:18.60.
The men’s team will compete on Saturday, Jan. 26. Senior Dominic Channon (Nelson, New Zealand) will be competing in the 3,000-meters for the second time this season. In his first outing at Brown on Dec. 1, he finished first with a time of 8:22.51. Also looking to reclaim a victory is freshman Joseph Vercollone (Pembroke, Mass.). Vercollone will be competing in the 1,000-meters for the second time this season. He finished first in the same event at Brown with a time of 2:37.81.
