Men's and Women's Indoor Track Teams Compete At Harvard Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The Providence College men's and women's indoor track teams competed at the Harvard Invitational on Saturday, December 9. The Friar men's squad was led by All-America junior Max Smith (Dunedin, New Zealand), who captured the 3,000 meters, while sophomore Katie Elliot led the women's squad with a fifth place finish in the 800 meters. Smith ran the 3,000 meters in a time of 8:08.20 to finish four seconds ahead of Boston College's Patrick Mellea. Sophomore Charlie Dewey (Worcester, Mass.) was PC's other first place finisher as he ran a time of 1:04.39 in the 500 meters. Junior James Lourenco (West Warwick, R.I.) took fourth place in the 500 meters in a time of 1:05.51. Elliot was PC's highest finisher on the women's side as she ran a time of 2:20.45 in the 800 meters to place fifth. Freshman Katherine Shock (Norwood, Mass.) ran a time of 2:20.51 to finish sixth behind Elliot. Both the men's and women's teams are back in action on Saturday, January 20, 2007 at the University of Rhode Island Invitatational.
