Shelby Greany Places 11th In Finals Of NCAA 3000 Steeplechase

    EUGENE, Ore. - Providence College senior Shelby Greany (Suffern, N.Y) finished 11th in a time of 10:10.76 in the final round of the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship in Eugene, Oregon on Saturday, June 8. For her efforts, Greany earned her third career All-America accolade in the steeplechase. She was named a Second Team All-American after the race.

    In 2010, she earned her first All-America honor when she finished 6th at the NCAA Championship in the steeplechase in a career best time of 10:00.88. Last year, Greany received Second Team All-America accolades when finished 10th in a time of 10:19.54.

    The 2013 NCAA 3,000 steeplechase was won by Emma Colburn of Colorado, who finished first in a time of 9:35.38.

    On Thursday, Greany placed fourth in her heat in the Semifinals at the NCAAs in a season-best time of 10:02.99 to advance to the finals.

    Greany was the final Friar to race at the 2013 NCAA Championship. On Friday, juniors Emily Sisson (Chesterfield, Mo.) and Laura Nagel (Napier, New Zealand) each earned All-America accolades in the 5,000 meters at NCAA Track Championship in Eugene, Ore. Sisson placed sixth in a time of 15:58.40 to earn First Team All-America honors. Nagel finished 12th (16:15.08) and was named Second Team All-America.
