Women's Track Runs At New England Championship

New England Outdoor Championship at Dedham, Mass. - May 12-13, 2000

DEDHAM, Mass. -- The Providence College women's track team competed at the New England Outdoor Track Championship in Dedham, Mass. on May 12-13.

The Friars were led by junior Rachel Hixson (Media, Pa.). Hixson finished second in the 3,000 meters in a time of 9:43.76 and earned All-New England honors. With her time of 9:43.76, she qualified for the ECAC Championship.

Freshman Roisin McGettigan (Wicklow, Ireland) and senior Dana Ostrander (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) each recorded strong races for the Friars and received All-New England accolades. McGettigan placed third in the 800 meters (2:10.34) and Ostrander was third in the 5,000 meters (17:24.38). Both runners qualified for the ECAC Championship.
