STORRS, Conn. - The Providence College men's and women's track teams wrapped up competition in the final day at the BIG EAST Outdoor Track Championships at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Conn., on Sunday, May 7. The Friar women's track team finished 14th after scoring 15 points and men's team placed 13th after scoring 20 points.

On the final day of competition, senior Martin Fagan (Mullingar, Ireland) won the 5,000 meters in a time of 14:08.09. Fagan, who qualified for the NCAA Regionals, became the sixth Friar all-time to win the BIG EAST Outdoor Track 5,000 meter title. Sophomore Ahmed Haji (West Hartford, Conn.) also ran the 5,000 meters and finished fifth in a time of 14:17.65.

In the men's 1,500 meters, sophomore Max Smith (Duendin, New Zealand) finished third in a time of 3:47.16. With his time of 3:47.16, Smith qualified for the NCAA Regionals.

On the women's side, graduate student Aine Hoban (Wakefield, England) placed fifth in the 5,000 in a time of 16:53.25. Freshman Katie DiCamillo (Garden City, N.Y.) also ran the 5,000 and finished 6th (17:06.38).

In the 1,500 meters, junior Meghan Owen (Danielson, Conn.) was ninth (4:32.52) and sophomore Nelle Trefz (Iowa City, Iowa) placed 12th (4:41.15).
