VILLANOVA, Penn. -
The women's track team competed Saturday, May 2, 2009 at the BIG EAST Championships at the Jumbo Elliott Track at Villanova University, Penn.. Senior Danette Doetzel (Macklin, Sask.) led the Friars by defending her 10,000 meter title, winning in personal-best time of 33 minutes and 23 seconds.
Doetzel's victory in the 10,000 meters was her third BIG EAST title and qualified her for the NCAA Championships to be held on June 10-13, 2009 at Fayetteville, Arkansas. Also in the 10,000 meters, Senior Sarah Morgan (Waikato, New Zealand) placed sixth, crossing the tape in a time of 36:09.87.
