Men's and Women's Track Competes at the Mt. Sac Relays - April 16-17, 2004

WALNUT, Calif. -- The Providence College men's and women's outdoor track teams each competed at the Mt. Sac Relays on April 16-17 in Walnut, Calif. Junior Kim Smith (Auckland, New Zealand) finished second in the 5,000 meters and established the PC 5,000 meter record in a time of 15:09.72. The previous school record in the 5,000 was established by Marie McMahon in a time of 15:43.00 in 1996. Also in the 5,000 meters, senior Lisa Cappello (Lockport, N.Y.) finished 14th in the 5,000 meter university division race (16:30.05).
In the 1,500 meters, sophomore Fiona Crombie (Christchurch, New Zealand) placed 12th in a time of 4:23.79 and junior Deirdre Byrne (Avoca, Ireland) finished 18th in a time of 4:25.26. All four Friar women that competed qualified for the NCAA Regional Championships.
On the men's side, the Friars were led by junior Pat Moulton (Pelham, N.H.) who finished second in the 10,000 meters university division in a time of 29:31.25. Graduate student Adam Sutton (Sutton, England) placed 20th in the 10,000 meter invitational division in a time of 29:32.50. In the 5,000 meter university division, junior Dylan Wykes (Kingston, Ontario) placed 11th in a time of 14:00.14 and sophomore Martin Fagan (Mullingar, Ireland) finished 28th in a time of 14:09.35. Both runners qualified for the NCAA Regional Championships.
