Women's Track Finishes 5th At Brown Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College women's track team scored 47 points and finished fifth of six teams at Brown Invitational in Providence, R.I. on Saturday, April 14. Sophomores Roisin McGettigan (Wicklow, Ireland) and Brooke Freeburg (Waterford, Pa.) led the Friars as they each earned a first-place finish. McGettigan won the 800 meters in a time of 2:11.87 and Freeburg won the javelin throw with a toss of 46.26 meters. Freeburg also scored for the Friars in the discus as she placed third with a throw of 38.48 meters. Senior Francine Darroch (Cambridge, Ontario), sophomore Emer O'Shea (Limerick, Ireland) and junior Marissa Colburn (Wethersfield, Conn.) all earned a third-place finish for the Friars. Darroch placed third in the 1,500 meters in a time of 4:40.19. O'Shea was third in the 800 meters (2:15.56) and Colburn finished third in the 3,000 (10:15.32).
