The Providence College outdoor men's and women's track team competed at the Brown Invitational today, Saturday, April 13. The women's side saw three Friars post personal best times, while the men's side saw a first place finisher in the men's one mile run.
Senior Dominic Channon (Nelson, New Zealand) led the men's side with a victory in the men's one mile run. Channon finished the mile in a time of 4:08, qualifying him for the IC4A Championships. Classmate Ahmed Ali (Boston, Mass.) finished second in the men's 3000 meter run with a time of 8:36. Rounding out the top performers on the men's side was freshman Austin King (Kempton, Pa.), who ran a personal best, 49.83, in the men's 400 meter.
On the women's side, freshman Kathleen Powell (Wrentham, Mass.) ran a personal best of 10:09 in the women's 3000 meter run. Junior Jackie McCarthy (New Rochelle, N.Y.) competed in the women's mile run, where she ran a personal best time of 5:02. Sophomore Caitlin Abelseth (Voorheesville, N.Y.) earned a personal best time of 58.39 in the women's 400 meter run.
The Friars will next compete in Walnut, Calif. at the Mt. Sac Relays from Thursday, April 18 to Saturday, April 20.
