Women's Track Places 4th At UConn
PROVIDENCE COLLEGE WOMEN'S TRACK at University of Connecticut, Storrs, Conn.. - April 7, 2000 SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The Providence College women's track team scored 86 points and finished fourth of five teams at the University of Connecticut at Storrs, Conn., on Friday, April 7. The Friars were led by junior Kathy Sutkowski (Edison, N.J.), freshman Roisin McGettigan (Wicklow, Ireland), sophomore Claire Shearman (Portsmouth, N.H.) and sophomore Kathryn Casserly (Galway, Ireland) who all earned a first-place finish. Sutkowski captured the 800 meters in a time of 2:19.89 and qualified for the New England Championship. McGettigan won the 1,500 meters (4:30.58) and Shearman earned a victory in the 3,000 meters (9:46.91). Both runners qualified for the ECAC Championship. Casserly also ran a strong race and captured the 5,000 meters (17:36.55) and qualified for the New England Championship.
