FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- The Providence College women's indoor track team competed at the 2003 NCAA Championship, which was held on March 14-15 on the campus of the University of Arkansas. Despite competing in just three events, the Friars finished tied for 32nd out of 53 teams at the NCAA's.

Senior Roisin McGettigan (Wicklow, Ireland) competed in the mile and placed fourth in a time of 4:42.06 to earn All-America accolades for the second consecutive season in the event. McGettigan, who finished fifth in the NCAA's last season in the mile, enjoyed a strong indoor season in 2002-03, including her personal best time (4:37.95) in the mile at the Terrier Classic (1/25/03), which at the time was the nation's best.

In the 3,000 meter-run, sophomore Mary Cullen (Sligo, Ireland) finished in 11th-place in a time of 9:26.16. The quartet of freshman Fiona Crombie (Christchurch, New Zealand), senior Emer O'Shea (Limerick, Ireland), senior Deirdre Byrne (Avoca, Ireland) and graduate student Heather Cappello (Lockport, N.Y.) finished 13th in the distance medley relay in a time of 11:39.44.
