The Providence College women's track and field team finished its final day of competition at the ECAC Championships today, March 9 at Boston University. The Friars finished the day with three personal-best performances.
The highlight of the day came in the 1000 meter final, where senior Jackie McCarthy (New Rochelle, N.Y.) finished in second-place with a personal-best time of 2:51.09. McCarthy's second-place finished earned the team eight points toward their overall score.
Sophomore Molly Keating (Rehoboth, Mass.) also competed in the 1000 meter final, where she finished sixth overall. Keating placed sixth with a time of 2:53.10, giving the Providence three points toward its team score.
The Friars finished the day with the 3000 meter final, where senior Grace Thek (Melbourne, Australia) and graduate student Samantha Roecker (Charlton, N.Y.) finished with personal-record performances. Thek finished in sixth-place with a time of 9:28.16, capturing three team points, while Roecker was seventh overall with a time of 9:29.24, earning two points for the Friars.
Providence finished the championships with 16 points, good for 20th out of 46 teams.
The Friars wrap-up the 2013-14 indoor season with the NCAA Division I Indoor Track Championships in Albuquerque, N.M. from March 14-15.
