Women's Track Finishes 4th At URI
at University of Rhode Island, Kingston, R.I. - February 5, 2000
KINGSTON, R.I. -- The Providence College women's track team scored 77 points and finished fourth of five teams at the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, R.I. on Saturday, February 5. The Friars were led by freshman Roisin McGettigan (Wicklow, Ireland), freshman Emer O'Shea (Limerick, Ireland), senior Dana Ostrander (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) and sophomore Kathryn Casserly (Galway, Ireland) who all earned first-place finishes. McGettigan captured the 800 meters in a time of 2:12.46, while O'Shea won the 1,000 meters in a time of 2:55.91. Both runners qualified for the ECAC Championship. Ostrander won the mile (5:02.29) and Casserly earned a first-place finish in the 3,000 meters (10:03.71). Both runners qualified for the New England Championship. The Friars' Distance Medley team of Ostrander, junior Francine Darroch (Cambridge, Ontario), Kathy Sutkowski (Edison, N.J.) and Kate Gall (Cumberland, Md.) placed second in a time of 12:17.27.
