PROVIDENCE COLLEGE WOMEN'S TRACK -- at University of Rhode Island, Kingston, R.I. - February 3, 2001

KINGSTON, R.I. -- The Providence College women's track team scored 68 points and finished fifth of eight teams at the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, R.I. on Saturday, February 3.

The Friars were led by sophomore Roisin McGettigan (Wicklow, Ireland) and senior Rachel Hixson (Media, Pa.) who each earned a first-place finish.

McGettigan captured the mile in a time of 4:56.11, while Hixson won the 3,000 meters in a time of 9:51.30. Both runners qualified for the ECAC Championship.

Junior Heather Cappello (Lockport, N.Y.) and senior Joan Bohlke (Old Saybrook, Conn.) ran strong races for the Friars. Cappello placed second in the 3,000 in a time of 10:00.68 and qualified for the BIG EAST Championship. Bohlke placed second in the 500 meters (1:17.76) and qualified for the BIG EAST Championship.
