New England Challenge Cup at Brown, Providence - Jan. 14, 2000

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College women's track team scored 99 points and finished third of five teams at the New England Challenge Cup at Brown University in Providence, R.I. on Friday, January 14.

The Friars were led by junior Joan Bohlke (Old Saybrook, Conn.), freshman Roisin McGettigan (Wicklow, Ireland) and sophomore Heather Cappello (Lockport, N.Y.). Bohlke captured the 400 meter race in a time of 59.89 while McGettigan won the 800 meter title in a time of 2:18.47. Cappello earned a victory in the 1,000 meters, finishing in 2:58.20 and qualifying for the ECAC Championship.

PC's 4 x 800 meter relay team of junior Francine Darroch (Cambridge, Ontario), sophomore Claire Shearman (Portsmouth, N.H.), sophomore Kathryn Casserly (Galway, Ireland) and Cappello won the race in a time of 9:34.82.
