The Providence College women's tennis team swept Ohio Northern University, 7-0, on Sunday, February 24 in Orlando, Fla.  The Friars were led by strong performances in singles by sophomore Dara Hawkins-Hodgson (South Euclid, Ohio), freshman Avery Gibson (Fairfield, Iowa) and senior Kate Lyons (Barrington, R.I.).
The doubles teams of Gibson/Hawkins-Hodgson, Rissolo/Gilroy and Sinha/Wegner played extremely well in their first outdoor match since October of 2007.  It also marked junior Ashley Rissolo's (Southport, Conn.) first singles match of the 2007-08 season and her first with junior Meghan Gilroy (Fairfield, Conn.) as well.  Coach Turner is expects them to contribute where they left off in the spring of 2007 upon their return from studying abroad.   Next up for the Friars is Emory and Henry University of Virginia on Wednesday, Feb 27 in Orlando, Fla.  The match is set for a 1:00 p.m. start.
