Women's Tennis Places Second At The New England Championship

Burlington V.t.-- The Providence College women's tennis team competed at the New England Championships on Oct. 22-24 in Burlington V.t. Junior Alison Carton captured the No. 2 singles title, defeating URI's Francoise Artiero in the finals (6-3, 6-3). At the No. 6 singles postion sophomore Lindsey Gillooly defeated Harvard's Elizabeth Gass (6-0, 6-0) to capture the title. Overall the Friars placed second (24) behind Harvard (33). No. 1 singles player Brooke Rubin, No.3 Jesse Lemasters, No.4 Gina Vlasek and the No. 1 doubles team of Rubin/Carton all advanced to the finals of their respective flights before bowing out.
