The Providence College women's tennis team placed fourth out of ten teams at the New England Tennis Championship on Sunday, October 21 in Burlington, Vt. Providence senior Brooke Rubin (Cranston, R.I.) captured the singles title at the No. 1 spot for the second consecutive year. Rubin posted a 3-0 record and lost only on set at the New England's.

Connecticut won the title with 41 points as it captured five of the six singles titles. Rubin defeated UConn's Trina Russel, 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 to prevent a UConn singles sweep. PC freshman Nicole Rodger (Lowell, Mass.) made it to the championship match at the No. 6 singles spot, before falling 6-1, 6-1 to the Huskies' Colleen Connors.

In doubles competition the duo of Rubin and Katy Bednar (Marblehead, Mass.) fell in the semifinals, 8-5 to UNH's Lindsey Johnson and Kim LeDonne.
