The Providence College tennis team hosted Monmouth University at home in Providence, R.I. on Saturday, October 18. Led by junior Jen Cusack (Bayport, N.Y.), the Friars cruised to a 6-1 victory, improving to 3-1 on the year. Cusack stood out in the No. 6 singles position, defeating Monmouth's Kelly Friedrich, 6-2, 6-2. Prior to that, she had paired with senior Meghan Gilroy (Fairfield, Conn.) to earn the deciding doubles point in the No. 2 spot, defeating Jessica Slinger and Diane Washer, 8-4. Gilroy also played well in singles, coming from behind in the No. 3 spot for the 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 victory. The Friars return to action on Friday, October 24 and Saturday, October 25 when they travel to Philadelphia, Pa. for the ITA Regionals, their final matches of the fall season. Match times have yet to be announced.
