The Providence College women's tennis squad fell to the University of Rhode Island, 8-1, on Wednesday, October 3. The interstate matchup marked the Friars' first home competition of the season.

Finding success for the Friars was the duo of Kate Lyons (Barrington, R.I.) and Jen Cusack (Bayport, N.Y.) who defeated Rhode Island's Steff Catanzano and Kristen Lui, 8-4, in the No. 3 doubles match.

The Friars take the courts again on Saturday, October 6, at 11:00 a.m, in a matchup against Monmouth in Providence, R.I.
