Women's Tennis Opens 2017 Fall Campaign With A Dominant Performance

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's tennis team opened the 2017-18 season today with a match against Johnson and Wales University. The Friars came out with a high-energy performance, topping their cross-city opponents, 7-0.

The Friars opened the match strong, led by the pair of seniors Katie Marvin and freshman Lauryn Jacobs, who won No. 2 doubles, quickly and decisively, 6-1. Sophomores Natalie Pitocco and Emily Collins also opened strong, winning at No. 3 doubles, 6-2.

The Friars came out equally as strong in singles action, winning each first set. Sophomore Aiden Epstein led the way sweeping to victory, 6-0, 6-0, in No. 3 singles.

Head coach Jakob Klaeson said after that game, "I'm very happy with how the girls played today, it was great to see everyone out there competing, especially the freshmen in their first opportunities."

Providence College returns to action on Friday, September 15 at the Quinnipiac Fall Invitational.
