Women's Tennis Takes BIG EAST Consolation Match Versus Creighton

FLUSHING MEADOWS, N.Y. - The Providence College women's tennis team defeated the Creighton Bluejays, 4-2, today (April 25). The Friars move their overall record to 6-16 on the season.

In doubles play, sophomores Alana Prinos (Foxborough, Mass.) and Hanna Zangari (Saunderstown, R.I.) defeated Analese Snyder and Amanda Noonan (8-2) to move their record at the No. 2 position to 6-7 this season.

In the No. 3 doubles position, freshmen Jennifer DeLuca (Riverside, Conn.) and Amanda Pitocco (Warwick, R.I.) toppled Sam Anderson and Liz Vermillion (8-4) for their seventh win together this season. With the win, DeLuca and Pitocco clinched the doubles point for Providence.

In singles play, Prinos defeated Snyder (6-3, 6-0) in the No. 2 position, while Pitocco sailed past Vermillion (6-2, 6-4) in the No. 6 position to tilt the score 3-1 in favor of Providence.

Ahead 3-2, DeLuca sealed the win for the Friars with a comeback win over Nelsen (4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (2)) in the No. 3 position.
