Providence, R.I. -
The Providence College Women's Tennis team concluded their regular season today, April 12, with a competitive match against Quinnipiac. The Friars were bested today, as the Bobcats took the match by a score of 5-2.
The Friars started the day by honoring Katie Marvin during Senior Day. There was a surge in fans today, as they watched Marvin take the Providence College Tennis Courts for the final time.
In match play, Providence started slow in the Doubles point, as Quinnipiac swept all three matches. However, the team found its momentum in the Singles matches, as all six players performed well out of the gate.
Senior Katie Marvin had a strong match in Singles no. 4, winning 6-4, 6-2 in her final match at Providence College. Sophomore Aidan Epstein shook off her recent string of bad luck with a 6-2, 7-5 victory in Singles no. 3.
Head coach Jakob Klaeson said after the match, "We came out with a lot of energy in the match, there was a great crowd at the match and the team really fed off them. I want to thank all of the fans that came out today. We would have liked to get the win but the competitiveness of the team today was very encouraging."
The Friars have a week off before they travel to Cayce, S.C. for the BIG EAST Tournament. The team will begin play on Thursday, April 26.
