Providence College Women's Tennis Falls to Villanova, 5-2

    PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's tennis team was defeated by Villanova University, 5-2, on April 11 in Villanova, Pa. Freshmen Alli Carnall (Hatfield, Mass.) and Caitlin Foley (Holden, Mass.) won their respective singles matches at the No. 5 and No. 6 slots.

    At No. 5 singles, Carnall fell in the first set, 4-6, but rallied to win the match after wins in the second and third set, 6-4 and 6-1 respectively.

    At No. 6 singles, Foley took the first set,6-0, but dropped the second set, 1-6. Ramirez battled back to take the third and deciding set, 6-2.

    The Friars were swept in doubles play, 8-4, 8-5, and 8-7 (3).

    The Friars will remain home for the remainder of the season. Providence hosts Fairfield on Thursday, April 12, before welcoming Pittsburgh on Friday, April 13, both matches begin at 2:00p.m. The season concludes on Sunday, April 15 versus Albany at noon, where the Friars will recognize the class of 2012 with a senior day ceremony prior to the start of the match.
