ORLANDO, FLA. -
The Providence College women’s tennis team played back-to-back matches against South Dakota and Western Carolina on Monday, March 6. The Friars were topped in both matches, 7-0 and 5-2, respectively.
Against South Dakota, Amanda Pitocco and Aidan Epstein paired up to win no. 2 doubles, but the Friars would still lose the doubles point. South Dakota swept Providence in singles play.
Against Western Carolina, the Friars tallied two points, both earned in singles play. Sophomore Risa Takenaka took first singles in straight sets, 6-2 6-3. Katie Marvin would earn the other point for the friars in the no. 4 singles spot.
Providence College returns to action on Wednesday, March 8 in their first BIG EAST match of the season as they take on Creighton University. The match is set to take place at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla. at 3:45 p.m. ET.
