Women's Tennis Falls To Pittsburgh, 4-3

The Providence College women's tennis team was defeated, 4-3, by Pittsburgh on Monday, March 4 in Miami, Fla.

Senior Brooke Rubin (Cranston, R.I.), freshman Katy Bednar (Hollis, N.H.) and freshman Molly Gilbride (Topsham, Maine) all recorded singles victories. For Rubin, it was her 78th career singles victory, which ties a school record. Rubin improved to 15-5 on the season.

Rubin defeated Jill Williams, 6-1, 4-6, 7-5 at the No. 1 spot. Bednar posted a straight sets win over Jina Fiore at No. 4 singles, while Gilbride need three sets to defeat Hayley Hughes.

The Friars are back in action on Tuesday, March 5 as they face Lake Superior State.
