Hamden, Conn. - The Providence College Friars traveled to Hamden, Conn. on Wednesday, February 28 to match up against the Quinnipiac Bobcats. The Bobcats prevailed as the Friars were defeated, 7-0. Head Coach Wayne Turner said that the score did not reflect how well his team played and that he was very pleased with their effort. In doubles action, the tandem of sophomore Meghan Gilroy (Fairfield, Conn.) and senior Kerry Schulz (Fairfield, Conn.) were able to grab two points from their opponents at second doubles. At third doubles, freshmen Jen Cusack (Bayport, N.Y.) and Dara Hawkins Hodgson (South Euclid, Ohio) were able to secure two points as well. In singles action Hawkins-Hodgson had a solid outing at fourth doubles before being defeated 6-2, 6-4 by Quinnipiac's Kasey Rosenberger. With the loss, the Friars fall to 0-4 in the spring, 4-5 overall. The Friars head to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. over spring break (March 3-11) where they will match up against Cincinatti on March 9 at 4:00 p.m. and Nova Southeastern on March 10 at 11:00 a.m.
