Women's Tennis Falls to Rutgers, 6-1

The Providence College women's tennis team was defeated, 6-1, against Rutgers on Friday, March 1 in Providence, R.I.

Senior Brooke Rubin (Cranston, R.I.) recorded the only victory for PC as she defeated Carissa Sommerlad, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 singles. Rubin and Katy Bednar (Marblehead, Mass.) played at No. 1 doubles, but fell to the Scarlet Knights' Jennifer Hellier and Andrea Weckstein. With her singles victory, Rubin took a step closer to tying the Providence College all-time singles victories record of 78. Rubin holds a 14-5 singles record this season.

With the loss, PC fell to 5-4 overall, and 1-2 in the spring. The Scarlet Knights improved to 5-2 overall. The Friars are back in action on Monday, March 4 as they face Pittsburgh in Miami, Fla.
