PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The 2007 Division I Academic All-America Swimming Teams were announced yesterday. The Providence College women's and the men's squads were each honored.

The women's team ranked 12th out of 111 teams. The top finisher on the women's side was the University of South Carolina. The women's division was exceptionally competitive this year, having nine teams with a 3.50 or better, and 104 with a 3.0 or higher.

The Providence College men's swim team ranked 35th out of 78 schools. Leading the way for the men's Academic All-America teams was Northwestern University.

The Friar swim teams rank highly at Providence College as well, having one of the highest GPAs among all women's and men's teams throughout the college.
