Providence Swimmers Place Second at Quandrangular Meet

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Friar swim squads competed at the Harold Anderson Quadrangular Meet held at the University of Rhode Island last weekend and finished second.

For the Lady Friars, freshman Lori Cosman (Newburgh, NY) took first place honors in the 1000 yard free and 500 yard free. For her efforts she earned PC Athlete of the Week honors. Senior Shannon Najjar (Sarasota, FL) won the 100 and 200 yd. butterfly events. The squad also took top honors in the 200 and 400 yard relay events.

For the men, junior Jed Michnowicz (Santa Clara, CA) won the 200 yard free while senior Kurt Yates (Cincinnati, OH) won the 100 yd. breast and senior Steve Brown (Sacramento, CA) won the 200 yd fly. The squad also won the 200 medley relay.

The Friar swimmers swim against the University of Connecticut in St. Croix, USVI on January 10.
