KINGSTON, R.I. - The Providence College men's and women's swimming and diving team each finished fourth at the Harold Anderson Invitational on December 6-7. The invitational was held on the campus of the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, R.I.

On the men's side, Providence was led by junior Patrick Kavanagh (Newburh, N.Y.), who earned the lone first-place finish of the day for the Friars. Kavanagh won the 500 yard freestyle event in a time of 5:01.59. He also participated in the 400 yard medley relay with teammates Bryan Flynn (Middletown, R.I.), Tom Darrow (Cranston, R.I.) and Seth Brockman (Kenner, La.). The team finished third in the event in a time of 3:43.00. Darrow earned a second and third-place finish in the 400 yard individual medley (4:28.66) and the 200 yard individual medley (2:08.90), respectively. Flynn rounded out the top individual Friar finishes with a third-place finish in the 100 yard backstroke (56.16).

For the women, Jamie Modon-Cohen (Yorktown, N.Y.) earned two second-place finishes in the diving portion of the meet. In the three-meter diving event, Modon-Cohen registered 215.30 points and accumlated 320.05 points in the one-meter dive. Kate Fuller (Staten Island, N.Y.) also recorded two second-place individual finishes during the invitational. In the 100 yard breaststroke Fuller finished in a time of 1:10.34, and completed the 100 yard freestyle event in a time of 56.08. Bridget McKenna (Narragansett, R.I.) also earned a and second-place finish for PC in the 1,000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:05.47.

The Friars will return to action on January 10 as part of the Hawaiian Pentathlon in Honolulu, Hawaii.
